Kauhava knife master Reino Kamppila makes Ahti knives by hand together with his son Janne. Kamppila has tens of years of experience in the manufacture of knives, which can be seen in the well-thought-out design of the knives and the very fine finishing work.
The raw material of the black-sided blades is a vanadium-carbon steel alloy. Vanadium improves the properties of knife steel by making it tougher and stronger.
The sheath of the knives is sewn from strong oxhide in the same color as the handle, which is decorated with handsome patterns. There is a safe plug inside the sheath that prevents the blade from penetrating through the wet sheath.
The material used for the handle is the traditional Visa birch for a Finnish knife. It is durable and very beautiful, and the birch handle gives you a firm grip.
