The M40 rifle has become known as a sniper rifle used by the US Marine Corps (USMC). The weapon originated from Remington's civilian M700 rifle, which was modified into a version better suited for military use. The M40A3 is the result of McMillan's further development of the original rifle with polymer stocks and modernizations.

The McMillan M40A3 manufactured by ASG is in every way an exact copy of its true prototype. The gun has a lightweight polymer stock combined with a machined aluminum barrel and bolt lock. The gun's trigger mechanism is VSR-10 type. The claws of the mechanism are durable metal and the trigger is firm and easy to use. The piston-cylinder set is VSR-10 style and produces a steady and convincing +140m/s output speed.

The body of the gun has an elegant matte finish and is roughened in the right places to guarantee a good grip. There is a sighting rail on top of the barrel for sights and the front part of the frame has a rail for e.g. a laser or a bipod. The stock of the gun has a height-adjustable cheek pack and the length of the stock itself can be adjusted with separate extension pieces, which are delivered with the gun. The rifle also has attachment loops for a carrying strap and the package includes a magazine loader.

The ASG McMillan M40A3 offers an excellent sniper rifle with good features at an affordable price. By adding a scope and a bipod to the weapon, this rifle turns into a full-blooded sniper rifle with features sufficient for even a more advanced player.
