Knife Sharpening
Although the BeaverCraft knife blade is made of high quality steel and is prehardened at the factory, every user should maintain a sharp blade regularly. Maintaining a sharp blade is essential for smooth and accurate carving. In this section, we will discuss how to keep your knife blade sharp.
How to Sharpen Your BeaverCraft Knife:
Supplies:
Sharpening stone or sharpening stone
Leather strop
Sharpening paste
Steps:
Sharpening stone selection:
Use a medium sharpening stone to change the shape of the blade or create new blade corners.
Use a finer stone to finish the blade and achieve precise sharpness.
Blade Sharpening:
Place the knife on the sharpening stone so that the blade angle remains the same throughout the sharpening operation.
Take the knife over the stone with repeated, even strokes. Remember to sharpen the blade evenly along its entire length.
Check the sharpness regularly and move on to a finer stone when you are satisfied with the shape of the blade.
Stropping:
Apply sharpening paste to the leather strop.
Hold the knife at a low angle to the strop and pull the blade gently against the leather. Repeat this several times until the blade is mirror-like shiny and very sharp.
Finish:
Test the sharpness gently with a piece of paper, for example. The blade should cut the paper effortlessly.
Use the knife with care and enjoy a sharp, effective cut!
Tips:
The Corner is the Key: Keep the sharpening angle consistent with every stroke.
Patience: Don't rush. Sharpening is a skill, and it can take time to master.
Storage. Do not leave it in a damp place or where it may come into contact with other hard materials to avoid damaging the blade.
