A Bokashi bucket is a practical way to convert food leftovers and organic waste into valuable organic fertilizer year-round, indoors, by fermenting with the help of EM (effective microorganisms). The airtight lid and draining spigot provide a closed system with optimal conditions for the synergistic lactic acid bacteria, photosynthetic bacteria, and yeasts in EM Bokashi bran to guide the fermentation process.

How to Bokashi (Brief Instructions)
•Collect Food Waste (in a bio waste container - check our shop for many attractive options!)
•Add Food Waste and Bokashi Bran - about 1tbsp bokashi bran per L of food waste
•Close Lid to keep oxygen out for a successful ferment
•Drain Liquid twice a week and dilute with water 1:100-1000 for fertilizing
•Repeat (until full)
•(When full) Let Rest (and ferment for >2 weeks)
•Mix with soil
•Enjoy, Grow, Eat, Repeat
We recommend multiple Bokashi bins as it allows you to CONTINUOUSLY collect and compost food waste as it is produced – fill one bokashi, let the other ferment, empty, repeat!

A quality EM Bokashi Bran is a key part of a successful bokashi fermenting process. Many bokashi brans on the market are lactic acid bacteria (not full EM) dominated and should be labeled as LAB bokashi brans – they help avoid rotting and preserve the organic material well, yet do not create the full results that a microbially diverse EM bran does. BioProffa bokashi brain uses a nutritionally balanced EM approach by fermenting organic wheat bran, spelt husks, sunflower oil, ceramic powder, and sugar cane molasses with a consortium of GM-free lactic acid bacteria, photosynthetic bacteria, and yeasts. The different EM microbes in the bran work synergistically to upcycle nutrients into diverse vitamins, enzymes, hormones, and bacterial biomass, providing the amazing benefits that EM and Bokashi is known for. The bran can additionally be used as a probiotic soil amendment, or as an inoculant for organic matter outside, such as a compost pile.
