EcoPoxy FlowCast® premium epoxy casting kit contains a casting resin and a hardener. FlowCast® casting resin is the only bio-based, next generation epoxy on the market based on renewable raw materials. It is more environmentally friendly than conventional resins and when cured forms a crystal clear glassy surface. Thanks to this high quality finish, this casting resin can also be called liquid glass.
This epoxy casting range is for hobbyists who don't want to compromise on quality and for professionals and industry who value high quality and extreme colour saturation. Suitable for coating/filling wood, metal, concrete, stone, leather, paper and other materials. Ammercial grade casting resin FlowCast® is a high performance commercial grade casting resin that cures to a clear UV resistant waterborne epoxy. It is a 100% solid two component epoxy with a long gel time. It has a low exothermic heat release rate and cures to an aqueous solid stress cracking resistant mass. Perfect for casting and transparent encapsulation, highlighting and magnifying the pieces inside. It can be cast and layered in layers up to 38 mm thick. Crystal clear finish, with or without colour EcoPoxy FlowCast® casting resin is thinner and brighter than conventional casting resins. When epoxy is combined with a hardener, the result is a crystal clear, extremely durable surface. Suitable for castings up to 38mm thick, which can be layered. For best results, a new casting is made after 24h. The mixture fully cures in 72 hours.
FlowCast® resin can be used alone to give a clear, glassy finish. If desired, it can be coloured with colour pigments. EcoPoxy colour pigments are available in normal and metallic based. By using and combining colour pigments, the colour and texture of the resin can be moulded in almost unlimited ways. The final result can be further embellished by adding EcoPoxy Glitter to give the resin a more brilliant appearance.
Excellent bubble release and virtually odourless epoxy The chemical composition of FlowCast® casting resin has been honed to perfection. As a result, it has superior bubble removal properties. This results in an extremely clear and smooth finish without the disturbing small micro-bubbles.
Biologically based components also make this casting resin virtually odourless, allowing it to be used in poorly ventilated areas. The only bio-based casting resin on the market FlowCast® is the only casting resin on the market based on organic raw materials. It has been developed with primary attention to environmental impact and organic ingredients. Approximately 20% of the ingredients in this resin are made from bio-based renewable materials.
Size options The cast resin range is available in 4 different sizes. The pack always contains the appropriate ratio of resin to hardener 2:1.
The kit is also available as a custom product in 60L, 612L and 2765L sizes.

Pouring the epoxy
Tips for beginners If used correctly, this product will give a professional finish. Take your time and keep in mind the following common beginner's problems when casting epoxy.
Always make sure your mixing bowl is completely clean and dry. Also make sure that the measuring container is clean, dry and accurate. The mixing ratio of this product is 2:1 (2 parts resin, 1 part hardener) by volume. Any slight deviation from this ratio may leave FlowCast resin soft or uneven. This product requires careful mixing, typically for 2-3 minutes. Avoid excessive whisking as this may add air bubbles to the epoxy. 4L doses typically require 6 - 7 minutes of mixing. Beginners are not recommended to mix more than 4L doses at a time. We recommend starting with smaller 2L doses until you become familiar with the mixing process and the product. When the components are combined and mixing begins, the mixture will initially turn a white cloudy color. This means that the components are not yet properly mixed. Continue mixing the mixture until all cloudy irregularities and white streaks have completely disappeared (typically about 2 to 3 minutes of mixing) Make sure that you scrape the edges of the mixing bowl during mixing and your mixing tool as the mixture adheres to your mix. If unmixed epoxy is left in the mixing bowl or tool, it will cause uneven wet spots in the final result. When pouring the finished FlowCast mixture, never scrape in any mixture that has adhered to the edges of the mixing bowl. No matter how carefully you mix your mixture, there will always be uneven spots left in the mixture that sticks to the edges, causing uneven wet spots in the finished product.
Product Instructions Warning: epoxy is a toxic mixture and is highly allergenic. Always wear protective gloves and clothing that are resistant to the mixture to avoid contact with the skin. Always ensure good ventilation and use an active filter.
Calculating the volume:The amount of epoxy required is found by multiplying the height, width and length of your casting. Use average lengths when measuring uneven sides. Although FlowCast® casting does not shrink at all as it dries under normal conditions, we recommend adding about 5% to the calculated amount. This addition will ensure that there is enough casting to cover crevices in the wood as well as deep crevices that are difficult to account for in the volume calculation. Example: 61cm x 15.2cm x 3.8cm + 5% (x1.05) = 3700cm² (% 1000 = 3.7L)
Adheres to.
In a clean, dry container, mix 2 parts epoxy and 1 part hardener thoroughly for about 5 minutes. Add colorant or metallic pigment and mix until completely smooth.
Color Glitter:You can enhance your work by adding EcoPoxy color glitter. Because color glitter is denser than resin, it should not be added to the mixture until near the end of the open time of the FlowCast resin, typically about 8 to 12 hours after mixing and pouring the mixture. This ensures that the desired glitter pattern will settle into place as the resin solidifies. Adding glitter to the mixture too early may cause the glitter pattern to bleed or change shape. Check the glitter pattern every 30 minutes or so during setting to ensure that it remains in place. If the glitter does not settle, repeat the mixing process again until the mixture is sufficiently solidified and the glitter settles into place.
Step 1, Precoat the pieces: we recommend using UVPoxy epoxy instead of FlowCast epoxy for precoating pieces, as the very low exothermic reactivity of FlowCast epoxy makes it unsuitable for thin coatings. Pre-coating reduces the risk of air bubbles.
Using a foam brush, apply a thin layer of UVPoxy resin until the workpiece is fully sealed. This thin layer seals the pores of the piece, preventing the formation of air bubbles during casting. Allow the object to dry for 4 to 8 hours between sealing and casting. Keep in mind that pre-coating may reduce the attraction (adhesion) between the pieces, as in all cases the epoxy cannot penetrate deep into the surface or piece and is therefore not recommended in all cases.
Step 2, Casting: the area to be worked on must be clean and dry and free of dust and insects. Unclean and dusty surfaces can cause staining of the casting surfaces. FlowCast casting can be poured in layers between 13 and 38 mm thick. The curing of the epoxy triggers a chemical reaction that releases heat. For castings over 12L, it is recommended to use several layers/casts to avoid overheating. It is also recommended to use fans to blow and cool the heat released by the curing reaction. For best adhesion between coats, wait 48 hours between pours (when the previous coat has set but is still slightly tacky). If the previous coat is not sticky at all, sand it slightly with 220 grit sandpaper and then wipe it clean before applying another coat. The epoxy may slowly fill small cracks and crevices in the piece, which may lower the surface of the casting. Therefore, be prepared to add more epoxy if necessary.
Finishing: If you wish, you can finish your work with a surface treatment. The finish on resin is in no way different from the finish on wood, so you are free to choose the finish material and mechanism of your choice, or alternatively, you can choose not to finish at all. Surface treatments include waxes, oils, varnishes or resins for thin coatings such as EcoPoxy UVPoxy. Each different coating method will enhance your work and casting in a different way.
Cleaning tools. The hardened epoxy can be removed mechanically from a mixing bowl, for example, as the surface of the mixing bowl is smooth and the epoxy does not stick to it. The use of hardened mixing containers should be avoided, especially when pouring the last layers, as small particles of hardened epoxy may remain in the mixing container.
