There are more than 1,000 museums in Finland, of which 151 are professionally maintained. In honor of the Finnish Museum Association's 100th anniversary, Posti is publishing stamps featuring 10 different museums and three objects from each of their collections. The labels present museums from different parts of the country, from Helsinki to Inari. The Ski Museum, Fame Music Museum, Mobilia Car and Road Museum, Play Museum, Museum Center Vapriikki, Police Museum, Turku Museum Center, Finnish Glass Museum, Sámi Museum Siida and the National Museum will receive their own stamp. "We chose the museums and objects to be included in cooperation with Posti. In the signs, you can see significant and otherwise noteworthy gems from the collections of cultural history and special museums", says Miisa Pulkkinen, Communications Manager of the Museum Association Group. Anssi Kähärä is responsible for the graphic design of the signs. "The project was challenging due to the number of topics. It was a big puzzle, where a compromise was sought with content and visuals. A clear concept helped to visualize the whole in the different phases of the design," says Kähärä. The Finnish Museum Association represents, educates and develops the Finnish museum field and helps museums succeed. The association is especially known for the Museum Card service, which has more than 250,000 active users. "Museums are experiencing a good boom after the corona pandemic. In 2022, museum visits will already rise to close to seven million," says Pulkkinen.
The Museoliitto 100 years sheet contains 10 (ten) domestic stamps.
