In the design of the Nankang AS-1, special attention has been paid to excellent wet and dry grip, as well as pleasant and quiet driving characteristics. In addition, the tire's rolling resistance and wear resistance have been optimized as well as possible. The unique Silica mixture especially increases wet grip and reduces rolling resistance, thus reducing fuel consumption. The two wide longitudinal grooves on the outside effectively remove water and reduce the risk of aquaplaning. The wide and laterally rigid pattern pieces on the outer edge of the tire improve maneuverability and stability in curves. The longitudinal groove running through the inside of the asymmetric tire reduces unnecessary stiffness on the inside and evens out tire wear and thus extends the service life. The design is acoustically optimized to minimize annoying tire noises. The narrow lamellas of the surface soften the unevenness of the road surface and increase driving comfort.
