The Hobau screw is used e.g. for fixing chipboard, plywood or wood materials, or for other fixings where you want the socket to drill into a reasonably hard board or a similar substance, flush with the surface, without a separate countersink. The base of the Hobau screw has small ridges that drive the base into the plate, wood or other material without having to make a hole separately. Also suitable for fixing aggregate-based boards (waterproofing boards, fire protection boards) and various floor boards. Also suitable, for example, for attaching a pegged floorboard. Not very suitable for plasterboard or similar softer materials, because it easily drills itself through the surface too deeply.
