Native to arid regions, cacti and succulents are adapted to store water, yet they do not tolerate excessive moisture and waterlogging. A growth substrate with excellent drainage and air circulation is ideal. The Seramis substrate is a simple and complete soil replacement that mimics the conditions cacti and succulents evolved to thrive in.

The substrate is a 100% natural mixture of Seramis fired clay granules, lava rock, and crushed expanded clay. Lava rock is breathable, water-permeable and rot-resistant. It provides a loose, stable structure that compliments the drainage properties of expanded clay, and the nutrient and moisture absorbing properties of Seramis clay granules. As a result, the mixture provides excellent air circulation and optimal moisture retention so that cacti can thrive with minimal maintenance or risk for waterlogging and root rot. Easy.

Planting
The plant can be planted in Seramis all year round. However, spring is recommended to give succulents and cacti ample space for the summer growing season.

•Plant in a perforated pot so that excess water drains.
•Place a stone in the bottom of the pot to prevent the substrate from draining out.
•Add 1/3 Seramis to the bottom of the pot.
•Place the plant on top of the Seramis.
•Add Seramis until the pot is full. Make sure that a layer of Seramis is also left on the surface.
•Gently tap the rim of the pot to spread the substrate evenly around the roots of the plant.
•Watering. Please note that cacti and succulents need considerably less water than other plants. Water moderately one week after planting.
