The impressive looking Shimano Sedona FI is the most affordable reel with a Hagane mechanism. The center of gravity of the reel is G-Free Body-optimized so that, especially during a long fishing day, the use of the reel is lighter than a traditional open reel. Together, the Hagane mechanism and G-Free Body make the Sedona a long-lasting and pleasant fishing companion. In addition, the appearance of the reel is pleasing to the eye, so Sedona offers the best quality in its price range.
All Shimano reels are made in factories with Shimano written on the roof. The Hagane features are based on the production tools and techniques at Shimano's factories and the know-how that combines technical innovations into functional fishing equipment. Because of this, the properties of all Shimano reels have been almost impossible to copy, because the technical characteristics are based on the technology and skill in our own factory hall.
Hagane machinery
The function of the reel's mechanism is to transmit the power from the crank to the reel's rotor as precisely and frictionlessly as possible, so that the reeling feel and power are at their best. The Hagane main gear is pure, non-recycled aluminum. It is cold-forged, because the mechanism part made in this way is more durable, stiffer and better functioning than one made by casting. In addition, the main gear is placed optimally with regard to power transmission and the reel's center of gravity.
G-Free frame
The worm wheel of the mechanism is exceptionally placed above the axis of the main reel, whereby the center of gravity of the reel has been brought as close as possible to the fisherman's free hand. Thanks to this, the twists and moments that occur in various fishing situations have been minimized, improving the user experience.
Aluminum cold-forged spool
Aluminum cold forging is a superior technology compared to traditional aluminum casting. A piece produced by cold forging is stiffer and lighter than a cast one, because its molecular structure is different. Shimano factories use cold forging, e.g. for making reel carriages and sides.
AR-C spool
One of Shimano's patents concerns the design of the leading edge of the AR-C spool. Thanks to that, when casting, the line leaves the spool almost directly towards the first rod ring. This way, the friction of the rod ring closest to the reel is minimized and there is no need to have an oversized ring on the rod.
