ForwardScan tells you what lies ahead. This compact transducer provides a field of view up to eight times your current depth, so you can navigate shallow or uncharted waters with confidence. Includes standard ForwardScan echo transducer, stainless steel sleeve and blanking plug.
See what's ahead
With the ForwardScan sonar, you get a clear picture of the bottom in front of the vessel. Award-winning technology protects your bottom and you won't hit the bottom in shallow, unknown or uncharted waters. ForwardScan usually offers a forward view that is 4-5 times longer than the current depth. Thus, in water 3 meters (10 feet) deep, you can see the bottom from a distance of 12-15 meters (40-50 feet). Under ideal conditions, ForwardScan can see even further than this, up to 8 times the current depth. The 180kHz ForwardScan sonar is designed to minimize the interference of common 200kHz transducers, so it can also be used alongside existing sonar or depth sounders.
Simple 2D view and map data layers
You get a clear and understandable picture of the bottom in front of you. Ground color tracking shows the ground as a solid terrain in an undisturbed side view. If you want even more detailed information, you can change the view to show the entire water layer. This way you can find out about possible dangers, such as harbor bollards. You can also superimpose ForwardScan depth data on top of the chart, perfect for boating: The bowline view uses colored segments to represent deep, medium and shallow waters ahead. The depths are adjustable according to the boat's draft and the shallow water alarm ensures that shallow spots are never missed.
Easy to install and maintain
Thanks to its stainless steel through-hull sleeve, the ForwardScan sonar is suitable for almost any vessel and hull type. The bushing and included alignment piece can be installed on 29 mm (1.15 in.) thick frames at a 12 degree V angle or 19 mm (3/4 in.) thick frames at a 20 degree V angle. Thanks to the self-closing valve, the ForwardScan sonar can be inserted into the sleeve and removed from the sleeve while in the water, making installation and maintenance of the transducer easy.
Note! ForwardScan requires a StructureScan®-HD port on the back of the Simrad GO series, NSS evo3 and NSS evo2 monitors.
