The zinc anode protects the boat's iron and other metal parts against corrosion. The anode is installed below the waterline in the areas that are to be protected. Corrosion occurs in the so-called electrochemically. When different metals are connected to each other, they act like an electric battery. The metals act as the poles of the battery and the salt water connects these poles. In such a combination, the baser metal always corrodes. Zinc is a less noble metal compared to iron, stainless steel, copper, brass, etc.
The zinc anodes should be checked with each lift and immediately replaced if they are worn. The zinc anode is installed longitudinally in connection with the metal parts to be protected. The zinc anode must not be painted with boat primer. The axle anode is attached to the axle, as close as possible to the axle support.
