Postcards and letters can be crowned with now-present stamps, whose flower arrangements are reminiscent of 17th-century Dutch still life paintings. The brands were designed by the artist Kreetta Järvenpää, who is known for her rich floral illustrations, e.g. in wallpapers, advertising pictures, postcards and boards.
Järvenpää's illustrations are based on photographs. "I use a camera and natural light for painting flowers. I post-process the images with an image editing program. Arranging the flowers is an important part of the work before shooting. I pay particular attention to the shapes, sizes, textures and colors of the flowers."
According to Järvenpää, flowers are a versatile and timeless material. "They transform and change during their lives a little like us humans."
In her floral work, Järvenpää always uses flowers grown in Finland whenever possible. In stamps you can see e.g. daisies and tulips. "I wanted to make the stamp images airy and at the same time rich. Not exactly the easiest idea, but very rewarding when I finished them".
The graphic design of the stamps was done by Ilkka Kärkkäinen. The language of flowers is a 10-character sheet with 2 different national symbols.
