Cut Point is a traditional hook sharpener with excellent piercing ability. This sharpening is the most widely used on hooks worldwide. A hook made of HiCarbon carbon steel is stiffer than a traditional steel hook, so it can be used to make thinner wire hooks. Carbon steel also allows for a very sharp sharpening that also lasts. Permasteel® (abbreviation: PS) is VMC's best coating against salt water and corrosion. PS-coated hooks are especially suitable for saltwater use and fishing hooks that are in the water for long periods of time. VMC's Permasteel (PS) surface treatment increases the hook's saltwater resistance to over 1000 hours (according to NF ISO 9227 and ASTM B-117 standards). There are barbs on the stem of the BaitHolder hook, the purpose of which is to hold the worm or other bait in place. The strength of the hook is indicated from the lightest to the strongest: X Fine Wire, Fine Wire, 1X Strong, 2X Strong, etc. As a general rule, it can be considered that e.g. 2X corresponds to the strength of the wire of a hook two sizes larger in strength when the dimensions of the hook, except for the thickness of the wire, remain unchanged. Fine Wire hooks are very light and sensitive.
VMC is the world's leading manufacturer of three-prong hooks, with a daily production of approximately 4 million hooks. This company, which has been operating for more than 100 years, is part of the Rapala Group companies.
