W&N Retouching varnish gloss, 400ml, Glossy intermediate varnish spray. A non-yellowing temporary varnish that protects newly finished oil, alkyd and acrylic paintings. Varnishes can be removed with white spirit. Varnishes provide a transparent coating that protects the painting from dirt, moisture, the effects of the weather, wear and tear. Most varnishes can be removed using Artists White Spirit or English Distilled Turpentine. Once the varnish has been removed, the painting can be varnished again without damaging it in any way. Varnishes, which are very difficult to remove, have the advantage of being more resistant to airborne contaminants.
